Intro to Communication & Media

Objectivity plays an important role in the media but is something that is very hard to achieve. While audiences expect their news coverage to be objective, often times it is not, whether consumers realize it or not. Subjectivity subtly sneaks its way into almost all media whether it be the news, Facebook, film, etc. Often times though, the subjective point of view goes unnoticed as consumers are more interested in the facts being covered than the subtle differences in what facts are being covered. A great example of this is the news coverage of the recent police shooting of 22 year old, Stephon Clark. Stephon Clark was an unarmed black male who was fatally shot on March 18 th . According to news outlets, he was breaking into car windows causing for police response. Rampage , A Two Perspective Review By Ashley Abbott Dwayne Johnson has had his fair share of movie roles with hits like Fast and the Furious, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, and even Moana . His most recent movie Rampage is currently in theaters. Rampage (2018) is a science fiction monster film based off a 1980s-arcade game where Davis Okoye (Johnson), a primatologist, has to help his albino gorilla, George. George was genetically altered, as a result of a bad experiment, into a massive creature. It is up to Okoye, George, and the rest of their team to stop two giant monsters (who also were genetically altered) from taking over Chicago. Rampage has had mixed reviews, mostly revolving around the storyline and the character Johnson plays. The movie has scored a C- from Entertainment Weekly and a 50% from Rotten Tomatoes. A Quiet Place Review of Reviews By: Eric Hindy A Quiet Place (2018) is a masterfully crafted horror/thriller released in theaters April 6 th .   This movie stars the husband and wife duo John Krasinski and Emily Blunt.   John Krasinski is not only the main character, the patriarch of the film, but also the Director and draft writer of the film.   Ironically, the true star of the show is Millicent Simmonds (Regan) who plays the deaf daughter of Krasinski and Blunt.   In general, A Quiet Place tells the story of a family forced to live in silence to hide from creatures that hunt by sound.   To add to the creepiness of the storyline, the setting of the movie is a secluded farm rigged to be self-sufficient with added security.   Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, the reason for the existence of the creatures or the beginning of the ‘apocalypse’ remains a mystery, but as you become invested in the characters, story, and nail-biting thrills this informatio...
